Rita says:
“Anyone who finds themselves with dull hours with nothing much it do, or are on their own, it can really fill these moments. Firstly, it is a relaxing 4hrs work (depending on passenger numbers of course).
Secondly, it is an extremely social atmosphere and great fun to do. Get quite a bit of exercise as well at times, getting up and down from your seat seeing people on and off the bus “
Sarah explains how she got involved:
I was interested in FYT from the beginning but unable to attend initial meetings, then hopped on a bus at the Health Centre one afternoon, just for a runaround.
The conversation went something like this:
Terry (PA): Where do you want to go Darling?
Me: Are you going to Totland?
Terry: No
Me: Are you going to Yarmouth?
Terry: No
Me: Are you going back to the garage then?
Terry: No, where do you live?”
Me: Well I live in Guyers Road, but I just want to go for a runaround.
I never did discover where the bus was going that afternoon, I was taken straight home, and promptly volunteered! Well, after kindness and consideration like that what else could one do?
